The sensors in iPhone Pro and iPad Pro produce measurements accurate to within 1–2 centimeters in typical home environments. A 2026 proof-of-concept study from the University of Manchester tested these devices specifically for occupational therapy home assessments and found they performed on par with professional-grade equipment across a range of lighting conditions. That's more than accurate enough for grab bars, doorways, ramp planning, and equipment placement.
